3 Ways To Deal With FOMO
In today’s world, it can be very easy to develop a sense of FOMO, or a “fear of missing out”. You see a lot of cool and interesting things online. Good looking people. Snapshots of different locations and ways of life. As much as these things can be inspirational, they can also become a source of feeling personally unsatisfied if you are not careful.
#1 Use It As Motivation
When you see others where you potentially would like to be, take it as a source of motivation rather than a source of negativity. Realize that those people started out just like you, and regardless of what your position looks like, you all are on the same path. Take time to embrace your own life without needing to compare it to anyone else. Embrace the work that you put in, embrace the great things you are doing, and realize that you will get there too as long as you keep going.
#2 Remember That Moderation Is Key
When you start using social media over excessively, and find it bringing on negative feelings, it may be a sign that it is time to dial it back. Social media should be a benefit to your life and a way to build connections, not something used to foster negativity. When you find yourself over-doing it, consciously make the decision to stop. Take time to embrace the people that you are surrounded by within your community. Maintain a healthy balance.
#3 Focus on Doing You
As I’ve said in other articles, don’t turn yourself into a concept. Realize that there is only one you, and be yourself. Be an individual that is able to live authentically and with integrity. Don’t compromise who you are to try to be accepted or validated by others. Regardless of how attractive any one else’s position looks, don’t compromise your own authenticity to get there yourself. Be okay with where you are, who you are, and what you’re doing.
Thank You For Reading
Today’s article is a little shorter than usual, however I hope that I was still able to make my point. I hope you were able to take something positive away, and I want to thank you for taking the time to read. See you on the next one.
