3 Tips To Make 2026 A Great Year

The start of a new year can be a great time to set new intentions and make new adjustments. The word “resolution” gets thrown around a lot, but sadly it seems so often that those pledges don’t get carried through. How often is it that you see someone declare that they are going to stop smoking, lose 50 lbs., or get out of debt only for the same habits to be set back in place by January 19th.

This article isn’t going to approach things in that way. Rather than set big, lofty expectations for the year, sometimes the best thing is just to focus on the basics and let the flow of life work its magic. Keep the big goals as part of the aim, but align yourself more with the small actions that make up the process.

Here are a few tips to help you do that.

#1 Get More Organized With Your Time

As I’m getting older, I find myself much more cognizant of the importance of time management than when I was younger. As a young kid, the thought of getting old seems so far off that it is almost obsolete. However, at 29, even though I realize I am still extremely young, the reality that one day I will get old seems much easier to grasp.

Start getting more organized with your time. Instead of laying in bed and hitting the snooze button for an hour, get up early and spend that time applying yourself toward something meaningful. Work on reducing procrastination when it comes to the small things like washing the dishes in the sink or making your bed before you head out in the morning. If something doesn’t apply toward your goals cut it out and replace it with something that will.

#2 Become More Present

As human-beings, it can be so easy to get caught up anticipating the future or dwelling on the past. Plants, animals, and other forms of life don’t seem to have this issue, but almost all humans do.

When you find yourself over-thinking the past or the future, use it as a pointer to place your attention back into the present. Become more conscious of your breathing, or align your attention with your body and relax.

As you continue this practice, living in the moment will become your standard mode of Being. And because you are more focused on the task at hand, it may lead to better outcomes and better finished-products.

#3 Be More Kind To Yourself And Others

If you have nothing to give, just give others a friendly smile, or the gift of your full attention. As you become more generous and kind to others you may find more generosity and kindness flowing back to you as well.

Give others your undivided attention when listening to them, and take a second to pause before responding or speaking. Let people know that you care about them and support them on their path in life. Find opportunities to be there for others and be helpful.

Final Thoughts

If you do these three things, you can almost guarantee that 2026 will be a successful year.
