The Pros Of Life Partnership
After addressing some of the criticisms toward this site, and also laying out the benefits of waiting to get married, I thought it might be nice to look at some of the pros of getting married.
As stated in previous articles, I personally am not someone that is inclined toward traditional marriage. That’s why this article is titled “Life Partnership” rather than “Marriage”.
In some cases there may be financial benefits for getting married, but every situation is different, and this article is not going to touch much on that. Even some of the top finance authors recommend cohabitation and life partnership over marriage, and that’s coming from people that are already married.
But, without further ado, let’s jump into it.
#1 You Reduce Loneliness
Loneliness can be very poor for your health. Especially as you get older and your body starts to age.
As someone who lives in a community with a lot of elderly people, this is something I have seen firsthand. Being at an old age and not having a partner to spend the holidays with or celebrate special occasions with must be very challenging.
#2 You Reduce Shame And Feelings Of Repression
When you are young, being single is not something to be too upset about. In many cases it can actually be good for your career, and other aspects of your personal life. But as you get older, not having a partner for years and years can be poor for your self-esteem.
It can in some cases lead to feelings of shame. In other cases it can lead to negative emotion or resentment toward the other gender.
#3 You Can Build Your Team
In a healthy situation, your partner is a player on your team. Someone that wears the same jersey as you do, and does things in a similar way that you do.
This can be a great asset to your life, especially if the two of you work well together.
Final Thoughts
These are just a few of the pros of life partnership, or “marriage” for some. As I have stated in the past, every person has different preferences, and what may work for one may not work as well for others.
I hope you have enjoyed the article and I look forward to seeing you on the next one.
