The Time is Now
As humans, we very frequently procrastinate, resist change, and get in the way of our own blessings. Pessimism sneaks in. Bad habits get set in. Time gets wasted. Before you know it years has passed by and we have failed to follow through with our highest potential.
Capitalizing on This Moment
In many cases, humans have the tendency to wait for the perfect day or the perfect moment to get started. Afterall, it can be so easy to come up with an idea, have a vision, or have a plan, and put it off, waiting for that moment of perfect clarity, energy, and confidence. More often than not, that moment never comes. Years pass by. Time gets spent in unproductive ways. Meanwhile little to no progress has been made in those areas that matter most.
In the memoirs I’ve read from professional athletes, this is a normal part of their journey. Athletes compete day in, day out, often times simultaneously dealing with nagging injuries, soreness, and fatigue. However, athletes know that they have to go out and perform regardless. They can’t let those small impediments get in their way. The greatest athletes find a way to perform consistently at a high level despite these challenges.
When it comes down to it, true success is always achieved on the level of the present moment. LeBron James says it best in one of his recent “Mind the Game” podcasts. “If you can learn to fall in love with the process, the results will come naturally”.
Getting The Most Bang For Your Buck
Believe it or not, right here, this moment is worth more than anything money can buy. The greatest business-men and women know this, and that’s why the term “time is money” is so frequently used. What they mean is that time, in the form of countless moments across the span of your life, is the most valuable thing that humans have. With this in mind, the importance of “getting the most bang for your buck” when it comes to how your time is used becomes pivotal.
If you could take action that would minimize the time spent doing things you don’t want to do, while maximizing the things you do want to do, what would you have to lose by following through? Even right here in this moment, what could you do to make it more enjoyable? Maybe as your sitting, working, or walking you could start to slow down and take in the fullness of your experience.
When you look at how these internal changes could change the way your life plays out on a longer scale, the difference is huge. The difference would be night and day. It would be one life lived versus a completely different life lived.
Enjoying The Fullness of Life
Regardless of your position in the world, external status, or financial standing, these principles remain the same. Life will continue to manifest itself on the level of the present, and it is up to you to align yourself with it internally.
The more time that you spend ruminating, procrastinating, and laying around, the more you lose and miss out. It’s like getting robbed for the greatest treasure money can buy, only the perpetrator is your own self.
Don’t let this be the case. Recognize the value of the present, and start living to the fullest!
